Swim Craft - Specialist Swim Coaching by Robin Brew
Coaching without limits...

para and adaptive coaching

Ability
Swim Craft provides specialist coaching for Para and adaptive swimmers and triathletes of every classification, informed by Robin’s decades of international Para coaching and by his own experience as the parent of a daughter with a disability. Sessions from £99; courses from £390 per person.

Experienced coaching for swimmers and triathletes of all classifications

Robin has spent decades working with Paralympic and adaptive athletes, helping swimmers and triathletes of every classification to develop their technique, build confidence and compete at the highest level they are capable of.

He has coached medal-winning athletes at four Paralympic Games, Beijing, London, Rio and Tokyo, and brings the same patience and understanding to every athlete he works with, whatever their starting point or ambitions.

Coaching that understands your needs

All classifications welcome

Robin has worked with swimmers across the full range of physical, visual and intellectual impairment classifications. His coaching is rooted in that experience, in technical knowledge, and in an adaptive approach that starts from what each swimmer can do rather than what they cannot.

Individualised technical development

There is no generic training. Our sessions are tailored to your specific needs, focusing on:

  • Adaptive stroke mechanics and biomechanics.
  • Efficiency and propulsion relative to your classification.
  • Body position, balance and coordination.
  • Start and turn techniques adapted to your abilities.
  • Race strategy and pacing.
  • Building confidence and independence.

We work to develop each swimmer’s or triathlete’s confidence in the water, understanding of their own stroke, and ability to train and compete with independence and self-belief.

Who this coaching is for

Our Para and adaptive coaching is for swimmers and triathletes aged 13 and over, including:

  • Competitive Paralympic swimmers preparing for national or international competition.
  • Age-group adaptive swimmers looking to develop skills and race with confidence.
  • Recreational swimmers with disabilities wanting to improve technique and enjoy the water more fully.
  • Para triathletes working on the swim leg or on all three disciplines.
  • Anyone at any stage, from complete beginner to experienced competitor.

Whatever your classification, current ability or goals, the coaching is built around you and the reasoning behind every change is explained.

Accessible facilities at the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort

Coaching takes place at the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort in Costa Teguise, in a 10-lane, 50m heated outdoor pool with ocean views. The resort offers step-free access to the poolside and accessible changing facilities, and we will talk through your specific requirements before you book so that nothing is left to chance on arrival.

Above and below water detailed video analysis

Every course includes a full video analysis filmed by Natasha Brew above and below the water, with the camera angles chosen for adaptive swimming and triathlon, which Robin then talks through with you. It provides:

  • Above- and below-water footage to assess stroke mechanics.
  • Clear visual feedback showing exactly how your body moves through the water.
  • Specific technical adjustments relative to your classification.
  • Before-and-after comparisons to track progress.
  • Digital records you can take away and share with your home coach.

Further analyses during a course are £95 each, and a single analysis can be added to any drop-in session.

In Lanzarote, coaching runs as 1-to-1 drop-in sessions or as 3, 5 and 7-day courses of two coached sessions a day. A carer, training partner or family member is welcome on the poolside at every session at no charge.

Robin has deep technical knowledge of swimming and was able to look at my strokes and advise on drills and adjustments to improve stroke mechanics and efficiency. He is able to communicate how to change stroke mechanics and the benefits of doing so in ways that are easy to understand and execute using different methods of feedback – visual, verbal and video.

Thanks everyone for a great trip. Great location and really enjoyed the experience with some fab friends and I learned so much about what I should be doing, rather than what I thought I was doing, in the pool! It certainly helped to think about how we swim in a different way and hopefully has armed us with some tools to continue progressing in a ‘tension less’ style. Many thanks for a very enjoyable swim camp.

As a master swimmer, I still aspire to improve my technique & swim fast. Robin has a great passion for swimming and uses his knowledge to help you achieve more efficient strokes. He looks at all aspects of your technique and, with great video analysis, gives you specific drills and skills to improve. But not just in the pool, in the gym & in your head. Loved it

It was a brilliant reset after returning to swimming over the last couple of years following a long break. The focus on technique, swimming with less tension and the importance of strength and mobility work has given me lots to take forward into my training.Thank you all for making it such a fun and supportive camp.

I was very apprehensive about swimming 4 hours a day! Would never have believed I would have loved it! Thank you for my final footage and all your technical tips over the weekend. Now looking forward to swimming rather than feeling it was something I ought to do - that feeling is priceless
